#PanipatTrailer: The Film Recalls a Historic Battle Recorded in History

For all Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat fans, here is the movie which will remind you of both the flicks but focuses on the battle fought and not the romantic side. Filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker portrays a grand chapter of Maratha history with his upcoming directorial venture ‘Panipat.’ And, the trailer seems winner already.

Yes, the trailer of Panipat starring Arjun Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Sanjay Dutt is out, and as expected, it is grand and convincing. Arjun Kapoor is portraying the role of fierce Maratha warrior Sadashiv Rao Bhau, Kriti Sanon is playing the role of the Parvati Bai, Sadashiv’s wife, and Sanjay Dutt will be seen as Ahmad Shah Abdali- the main antagonist in the flick.

If we talk about the plot of the film, it is a retelling of the Third Battle of Panipat, which gave one specific turn in the history- a fight between the joint Maratha armies and the invading Afghan forces. Martha forces were led by Sardar Senapati Sadashiv Rao Bhau, while Afghan armies were led by Ahmad Shah Abdali.

And, on the big screen, Arjun Kapoor aka Sadashiv Rao Bhau, who led the outnumbered Marathas on the battlefield against Ahmad Shah Abdali's, i.e., Sanjay Dutt’s mammoth army in the 18th-century battle, which is said to be one of the most eventful fights recorded in the former times.

In the 3-minute-15-seconds video clip, Sadashiv Rao Bhau, who has proved his courage on the battlefield, is declared his cousin Peshwa Nana Saheb's favorite, which is not agreeable to any other generals and family members. When the news of Ahmad Shah Abdali's invasion rocks the Maratha Empire, Sadashiv Rao Bhau is chosen as the leader of the Maratha army.

Soon after that, invader Ahmad Shah Abdali is described as a vicious warrior whose name is identical to destruction. A voiceover announces as Ahmad Shah Abdali brutally kills soldiers-

"In his last invasion, the Yamuna river flowed red for seven days."

On the other hand, actress Kriti Sanon plays Sadashiv Rao Bhau's second wife, Parvati Bai, who not only plays a crucial role in assisting in the administration of the Maratha camp but also accompanies him to the battlefield.

Since Ashutosh Gowariker has made period films like Jodhaa Akbar and Lagaan before, the trailer of Panipat is grand and nothing less as expected. Panipat battle is all about brave Maratha warriors who not only united in the troubled times but also fought valiantly, knowing they were outnumbered.

A movie critic Taran Adarsh took to Twitter and reviewed the trailer-

“Some trailers demand second/multiple viewing because they win you over... #Panipat trailer is one of those... Ashutosh Gowariker - synonymous with historicals/period films - raises the expectations from the movie... #PanipatTrailer:”

Before Panipat, Kriti was last seen in Housefull 4, and Arjun was seen in India’s Most Wanted. And, after Panipat, Kriti Sanon will be next seen in Laxman Utekar’s directorial Mimi.

Panipat also features Zeenat Aman, Padmini Kolhapure, Nawab Shah, and Mohnish Bahl, and the film is all set to hit the screens on December 6.
