#TanhajiTrailer: A Film Set in 1670, Narrates the Epic Battle of Sinhagad

It’s been two days now since the hashtags “#TanhajiTrailer” and  “#TanhajiTheUnsungWarrior” are trending on the trailer. Yes, even before the trailer launch. And guess what, the trailer is finally here.  People are already praising and waiting to watch the movie on big screens. By the way, the excitement of the film begun that day only when the announcement of starting of the film’s shooting happened.

After a long hiatus, i.e., nine years after the last film, Toonpur Ka Super Hero, Ajay Devgn, and Kajol will be seen together on the big screen in their upcoming movie, “Tanhaji.” This time they bought one true & epic historical tale. In the flick, Ajay Devgn is all set to play the titular role as warrior Tanaji Malusare - a Maratha ruler, Chhatrapati Shivaji's general - while Kajol is playing his feisty wife, Savitribai Malusare.

The movie also features Saif Ali Khan in the role of Tanaji's nemesis Uday Bhan, who attacked the hill fort of Kondhana throughout the battle of Sinhagad on Feb 4, 1670, while Chhatrapati Shivaji was ruling. Tanaji - the titular "unsung warrior" -  secured the hill fort of Kondhana for the Maratha Empire during the battle but died fighting Uday Bhan. And, after the battle finished, Chhatrapati Shivaji renamed the hill fort of Kondhana as 'lion's fort' of Sinhagad as a tribute to the bravery of Tanaji.

The film synopsis reads:

“Tanhaji- The Unsung Warrior is an Indian biographical period drama film based on the life of legendary Tanaji Malusare, starring Ajay Devgn, Saif Ali Khan, Kajol, Jagapathi Babu, Pankaj Tripathi and Sharad Kelkar in the lead roles.”

The three-and-a-half-minute video of the trailer of Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior opens with how father's death of Tanhaji during a battle for swaraj for the Maratha empire shaped his childhood as a warrior in the making. Further, the story jumps to the year when the once sword-yielding-amateur Tanaji is now Subedar Tanaji Malusare.

Also, it is declared in the trailer that  TanhaJi is the only one who can resist the rowdy Uday Bhan at the battlefield, who plays by no rules. The trailer is filled with fierce dialogues. Like, Uday Bhan tells Tanaji,

"Teri zasbaat mitti se judi hai... aur meri akal paani se. Tu jaan de sakta hai... aur mein jaan le sakta hun."

In response to that, Tanaji replies,

"Har Maratha pagal hai... Swaraj ka... Shivaji Maharaj ka... Bhagwa (Maratha flag) ka."

The trailer not only comprises epic battle scenes but also is punctuated by glimpses of Tanaji as a family man. Another best feature of the trailer is the character of Kajol as Savitribai Malusare features in powerful sequences as Tanaji goes to battle and also in emotional scenes with Tanaji.

It can be seen that Kajol in the film stands by her husband and his decisions like a rock. Moreover, she looks like a Maratha warrior herself while sacrificing her happiness for her husband's pride. Apart from that, the veteran actors bring excellent dialogue delivery to the table that makes their roles outstanding.

Plus, the experimental tone of Saif and a swift change between muscle and mind take the attention of all viewers in a minute.

Must say as we see the era come alive in the trailer clip, Om Raut seems to have done a good job with the CGI. Along with that, the background music also lifts the mood of the battle that is about to rage.

While praising the trailer, Taran Adarsh, a movie critic, wrote,

“#Tanhaji trailer is a roaring start to Ajay Devgn's 100th film celebrations... Looks grand, boasts of stunning visuals, has a winsome cast... Looking forward to watching the film in 3D. #TanhajiTheUnsungWarrior #TanhajiTrailer:”
