#Thalaivi: Kangana Transforms into Jayalalithaa, Look Inspires Memes

Kangana Ranaut is a Bollywood star who is known for her unique choices of films. Now also, she has chosen one amazing biopic to portray in. And somehow, this upcoming movie is one of the most talked-about films, titled ‘Thalaivi.’ The movie is based on the life of political stalwart, J Jayalalithaa, which will feature Kangana as the leading lady.

Recently, on Saturday, the actress and the makers of the flick unveiled the character poster and first look teaser that features Kangana looking like a spitting image of the late Tamil Nadu CM. The first look poster of the flick is much like the ones that they put up in the city streets during the politician’s rallies, and hence, it makes complete sense.

The striking look has Kangana wearing thick prosthetics to bring out the soft Iron Lady’s soft smile, also flashing her signature victory sign. So undoubtedly, the poster looks impressive as it sees her donning a green saree with a matching overcoat, which is surely matching a politician’s look.

As we mentioned above, the impressive look of  Kangana in this upcoming biopic is the work of Jason Collins, a renowned Hollywood prosthetics artist, who has worked on films like 'Captain Marvel' and 'Blade Runner' to best replicate the changing features and aging days of the CM, the actress will reportedly have four different looks through the course of the film.

Kangana’s sister, Rangoli Chandel, took to her Twitter and shared the poster. She captioned it as,

“The legend we know, but the story that is yet to be told!
Presenting #KanganaRanaut, in & as #Thalaivi. A film by #Vijay, arriving in cinemas on 26th June, 2020”

Must say that Kangana seems to have nailed the complete look of the actor-turned-politician with a circular bindi on her forehead, just like the late CM. Thalaivi’s release date was also revealed, along with the first look poster.

Along with the poster, the teaser of Thalaivi has been unveiled. G.V.Prakash Kumar wrote on Twitter,

"#thalaivi first look teaser ... #kangnaranaut #alvijay #vibri #karma #tseries”

The 1.32-minute video opens with a glimpse of Kangana imitating Jayalalithaa’s dance, as seen in the film ‘Vennira Aadai’ in 1965. And, the clip’s second half cuts through as she addressed a rally by waving the victory sign to all her supporters.

Manikarnika fame actor Kangana has been taking lessons in Tamil for her role in the film and also learning the classical dance form - Bharatanatyam.

Vishnu Vardhan Induri, the producer of the flick, who is also producing ‘83, said,
“I am excited to show this story of an actor turn politician, which is based on one of India’s most loved and followed public figures. Thalaivi is a very dear project to all of us as it is a story that needs to be told. And the way, Kangana has slipped into the character, is simply amazing. Can’t wait to present this film to the audience.”

In an earlier interview, Director Vijay said,

"This is a pan-Indian film, and Kangana is apt for the role. She is one of the biggest stars in India today and I think it is right that a top star plays the role of an important politician. We consider this a pan-Indian film, not a regional one. There was a lot of discussions before the decision was made to cast Kangana; we met several people as well."

Well, the teaser the poster received mix reviews from the audience. As some appreciated the look, some also created memes out of it.

Let’s check out the memes here:

Helmed by Vijay, the film will release simultaneously in multiple languages such as Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi and will hit the screens on June 26, 2020.
